Paramount Pictures Goes All In on Theatrical at CinemaCon®

Paramount Pictures took the Colosseum stage on Thursday with a bold vision for the studio’s future.

Paramount Pictures took the Colosseum stage on Thursday with a bold vision for the studio’s future. The presentation kicked off with a show-stopping reel, Paramount’s love letter to film, directed by visionary Jon M. Chu and starring the incredible creative community of filmmakers and actors that call Paramount home.

Paramount Chairman and CEO David Ellison then joined the stage, speaking to his personal passion for film and Paramount’s commitment to the theatrical experience. “I came here today for a couple of reasons. One, because I love film and Cinema – I always have, and I always will. And because our partnership with exhibition, with all of you, means a great deal to me,” Ellison said. “Film is one of our nation’s earliest art forms, and it’s still one of our most powerful cultural exports. But the theatrical experience is also a smart business: nowhere else can you launch a multi-platform franchise or IP that can grow and thrive for generations to come.”

He continued: “The second reason I came here today is I wanted to look every single one of you in the eye and give you my word: once we combine with Warner Bros., we are going to make a minimum of 30 films annually, across both studios. And every film – every film – will receive a full theatrical release, with a minimum 45-day window... starting today.”

Ellison then welcomed Paramount Pictures Co-Chairs Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein to the stage who shared their plans for a renewed Paramount, with a vision to anchor the studio with a robust, four quadrant slate, an unmatched creative community, and a deep belief in the power of theatrical storytelling. Paramount promises to deliver a lineup of films spanning every genre from action and animation to comedy, drama, horror and epic fantasy.

Central to their remarks was a reiteration of Ellison’s promise to deliver exhibitors and audiences 15 movies a year and a commitment to a 45-day theatrical window.

Dana Goldberg, Paramount Pictures Co-Chair said: “The driving force behind the new Paramount comes down to this: our creative community. You saw that amazing opening piece from Jon M. Chu, and he is just one of the many filmmakers we’re partnering with, a list that includes The Duffer Brothers, James Mangold, Issa Rae, Dan Trachtenberg, Will Smith, and many more. From day one, we’ve been hard at work doing our part, which already includes bringing 15 theatrical films in 2026—nearly double the prior year. Year over year, we’re scaling to give your audiences movies for every season, every mood and every taste.”

Josh Greenstein, Paramount Pictures Co-Chair said: “We’re working to bring you movies across all genres, including the film High Side with Timothée Chalamet and James Mangold, one of the many original films we’ll be bringing to your theaters. We are also going to be taking a lot of big bets on originals and are proud to be a place that supports filmmakers who take big swings.”

The takeaway? Paramount is all in on theatrical.
