Katherine Liu is the Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Operating Officer, Paramount International Markets. Working closely with the company’s Senior Leadership Team and Regional Leaders, Liu focuses on the growth and strength of Paramount’s hybrid operating model, and the creation of strategic value across all the company’s businesses in Direct-to-Consumer and TV Media, including Paramount+ and Pluto TV, PayTV Networks and Broadcast Free-to-Air, with oversight of the international functions of Finance, Business and Legal Affairs, Strategy, Technology, Research and Insights, and Operations.
With over 15 years at the company, Liu has experience with nearly every facet of Paramount’s organization, most recently having served as Executive Vice President of Strategy and Operations for International Streaming, where she played a key role in the strategic launch, expansion and growth of Paramount’s streaming services, achievement of topline and operating growth, and the underlying development of strong operating infrastructure.
Previously, Liu managed Strategy and Business Development across all of Paramount’s regions, brands and lines of business, as Senior Vice President of Strategy, Business Development & Operations, a role she first took on in 2017. This included establishing a common strategic vision and helping to develop and implement long-term strategic plans. Liu was responsible for identifying and executing growth initiatives – both organic and inorganic – and leading the company’s M&A activities, spearheading the improvement of the financial and operating performance and overall competitiveness of Paramount’s international division. Liu also oversaw the company’s globalized information technology, research and insights and content supply chain divisions.
Liu began working for Paramount in 2006 as Director of Strategy and Business Development. Prior to this, she worked in Hong Kong for the Business Development Group of STAR Television Ltd, focused on expanding STAR's multimedia presence throughout Greater China, India, and Southeast Asia. She also worked in the Corporate Development department at News Corporation, and began her career in the Mergers & Acquisitions Investment Banking Department at Merrill Lynch & Co.
Liu holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor’s Degree from Georgetown University.
