Tom Ryan is the President and CEO of Paramount Streaming. He oversees Paramount Global’s direct-to-consumer division that spans its market-leading paid and free streaming services, Paramount+ and Pluto TV. With Ryan at the helm, the division has grown from $1.8 billion in 2020 to $6.7 billion in 2023.

Paramount+ has remained the fastest-growing streaming service in the U.S. since its launch in March 2021. Paramount+ has become a top-five streamer with more than 71 million subscribers worldwide.

Ryan pioneered and popularized free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) as Co-Founder and CEO of Pluto TV, which launched in 2014 and was acquired by Paramount in 2019. Under Ryan’s leadership, Pluto TV scaled to more than $1 billion in annual revenue in just seven years, making it the first FAST service to become profitable. The Emmy-winning Pluto TV remains the global leader in FAST, which is expected to be a $12 billion global market by 2027.

Prior to his current role, Ryan served as CEO of Threadless, a popular crowdsourced art and ecommerce platform. He is a founding board member of Smule, the leader in social music, and previously served on the boards of men’s clothing service Trunk Club until its acquisition by JW Nordstrom in 2014 and Society6 until its acquisition by Leaf Group in 2013. Early in his career, Ryan served as SVP of Digital Strategy at EMI Music and Co-Founder of Cductive, one of the first digital music services, which he merged with eMusic.

Ryan holds an AB from Dartmouth College and an MBA from INSEAD in France. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and three children.
