The only major motion picture studio based in Hollywood, Paramount is located on an expansive 64-acre state-of-the-art production and business center. During its nearly 100-year history, the studio’s backlot has served as the production site for thousands of notable feature films, television shows and commercials. Paramount’s facilities include thirty sound stages, a newly constructed “Chicago Street,” as well as the historic and popular “New York Street,” which features ten distinct city neighborhood backdrops.
Paramount Pictures is also the creative home to some of the most respected and talented filmmakers and producers in the business including J.J. Abrams, Brad Pitt and Martin Scorsese, Paramount has distributed a host of critically acclaimed and box office hits over the last several years including CLOVERFIELD, TRANSFORMERS, INDIANA JONES & THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL, NORBIT, BLADES OF GLORY and DISTURBIA, to name a few.
The company’s legendary library consists of more than 1,000 motion picture titles, some television programming, and varying rights for approximately 2,500 additional motion picture titles. Paramount boasts numerous Oscar® winning films including 2007’s NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN (co-produced with Miramax Films), 2006’s groundbreaking documentary featuring Vice President Al Gore, AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, the moving historical drama BRAVEHEART directed by Mel Gibson in 1995, the worldwide sensation starring Tom Hanks, FORREST GUMP (1994) and the highest-grossing motion picture of all time, TITANIC (1997), as well as enduring classics such as BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S (1961), THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (1956) and SUNSET BOULEVARD (1950), among others. Paramount Pictures holds the distinction of winning the very first Best Picture Oscar which was awarded to WINGS in 1927.
