President, Paramount Pictures International
Anthony Marcoly was named President of Paramount Pictures International in November of 2011. In this role, he oversees the entire International Theatrical business, including sales, marketing and distribution operations in more than 70 countries around the globe.
Under his leadership, Paramount has enjoyed recent success with a wide range of films such as “TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION” directed by Michael Bay and starring Mark Wahlberg; “NOAH,” directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Academy Award®-winner Russell Crowe in the title role; and “WORLD WAR Z,” directed by Marc Forster and starring Brad Pitt.
An industry veteran, Marcoly spent 26 years with The Walt Disney Company and held a number of functional roles, including leadership positions in distribution as Senior Vice President Distribution, where he directed the day-to-day sales and distribution efforts, and earlier director-level positions in both sales and finance, before assuming the title of President of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International. In this role, he directed all functional areas for Disney’s International film distribution division that encompassed 450 employees. He set all strategic direction and annual organizational goals/objectives, and prepared and presented annual and five-year operating plans to senior studio and corporate management.
Marcoly earned his MBA in Finance and Marketing at Pepperdine University and his BA, Business Administration degree from California State University, Long Beach. His industry awards include Cinema Expo Distributor of the Year in 2004 and CineAsia Distributor of the Year in 1997. He serves on the Executive Committee of Variety International Children’s Charity.
